Life Hurts.
Love Heals.
New Migrant Youth Camps
Leaving your home and moving to a new country is hard.
The Life Hurts. Love Heals. New Migrant Youth Camps are designed to help young refugees, asylum seekers and new migrants understand conflict and loss and connect with God and other people from a similar situation.
Life Hurts, Love Heals New Migrant Youth Camps are interactive residential camps that use accredited programs run by Christian leaders. Camps are for youth of all faith backgrounds.
Our Trauma Healing camps use material from the Trauma Healing Institute. On the Trauma Healing camps participants will be using stories from the Bible to reflect on and telling their own stories, they'll be connecting with their feelings and building skills to cope with the difficulties of life. It will also provide them with the opportunity to connect with others of similar age in a meaningful way. We promote a safe place for youth to begin to find healing from some of the hurts they have had in life. This healing comes through experiencing love from the group facilitators, from their peers, and from God.
During the camp there will be sessions addressing questions that youth sometimes struggle with;
-
Am I important to anyone?
-
If God loves me, why do I hurt so much?
-
How do I connect with my feelings?
-
How do I deal with my pain?
-
How do I deal with my loss?
-
What about my personal boundaries?
-
How can I tell my story?
-
Where can I take my pain?
-
How can I forgive?
-
How do I more forward?
Our Peace Camps help youth understand conflict and be peacemakers. We use material from PeaceWise. There will be sessions discussing these questions;
-
What is conflict?
-
Where does conflict come from?
-
What is God’s peace plan for us?
-
How can conflict be an opportunity?
-
How do we become peacemakers?
-
How do my heart desires get me into trouble?
-
How can I own my part in a conflict?
-
When to overlook and when to speak up?
